FKL Will not refund KPL

Football Kenya mandarins have sworn not to repay monies the Kenyan Premier League spent while running the National Team Harambee Stars in the year 2008. Speaking to select journalists over the last one week, FKL Chair-person Mohammed Hatimy has ruled that possibility out, saying that he had already finalized that matter with Bob Munro earlier last year. There was a joint memorandum which bound FKL to repay funds incurred while running the National Team during the same period. FKL argues that KPL have already recovered their debt by handling all cash transactions, while KPL says that FKL owes them Kshs. 16 Million. Last season, KPL had threatened to severe links with FKL over amongst other issues, the whopping debt, but written commitments and intervention from the powerful Mathare United Chairman saved the day. Should KPL formally cease any affiliation with FKL, the country would risk FIFA sanctions, a situation which would afford an opportunity to clean-up the football mess in the country. But that may not be happening anytime soon, as the push and shove between the two bodies continues, without KPL taking a clear stand, and continuing with its cozy affair with FKL.
