KPL Congratulates Jerome Champagne, KFF takes issue
Preamble.
The Devonshire White Paper of 1923 drafted by the British Government read in part; This was a statement of the British government (Conservatives) policy regarding Kenya. It's most important principle was: "Kenya is an African territory. Interests of the Africans in Kenya must be paramount, and if African interests conflicted with the interests of the immigrant communities, then the interests of Africans should take precedence." This declaration by the British Government has been used in current legal proceedings and is a consistent reminder of the bonafide stakeholders in the country. The Kenya Football Federation has taken issue with a recent congratulatory letter sent by the Kenyan Premier League to Jerome Champagne, sacked by the World Governing Body, FIFA. The letter signed by KPL Chairman Elly Kalekwa and drafted by Bob Munro, poured glowing praise to the man seen as the cause of the downfall of Kenyan Football. An issue here is noted by KenyaFootball.com about the fact that TWO foreigners, (ELLY KALEKWA & BOB MUNRO) are the ones driving personal agendas with a Kenyan product by the name KPL. Kalekwa is Congolese, while Munro is Canadian. So we ask, whose interests are they serving? What was the urgency of writing a letter to Jerome Champagne? Shouldn't Bob Munro have written his own personal love-letter to Champagne instead of piggy-backing on KPL in his usual pathetic style? Once again we humbly ask, can we have someone who is not serving the interests of indigenous football stakeholders, appoint a shadow Managing Director of KPL who basically reports to Bob Munro even when he purchases toilet paper, enabling him to connive agenda's, loot funds and rig games? Now he is using another foreigner by the name of Elly Kalekwa to send congratulatory messages to Jerome Champagne? Surely, KPL clubs have other pressing priorities! KPL is not personal property, and if other clubs are afraid of saying this, we will say it boldly that there is an immediate need of deporting Bob Munro, because we cannot have another year of his nonsense and rubbish! This is a World-Cup year and instead of leveraging sub-committees of the company to position the league to benefit from 2010 spin-offs, KPL is sending congratulatory letters to an individual who was SACKED by FIFA simply because Bob Munro is his personal friend? Oh give us a break! If somebody was sacked because of undermining laid down structures, offending confederations, pursuing unpractical agendas like the (6+5 rule), what does it make of KPL to current FIFA officials, if all they do is send congratulatory messages to those who have already been dismissed? Why are clubs being misused by one particular outsider serving his personal interests? For instance, Tuesday night saw Egypt play against England at the Emirates stadium. The play England which has 90% players drawn from their local league means that Egypt is on another level. The genesis of the sacking of Former National Head Coach Francis Kimanzi in January 2009 came as a direct refusal to field a team to play against the Pharaoh's. Under instruction from Bob Munro, Kimanzi made atrocious excuses, while in the real sense the Canadian Immigrant only wanted to be bribed to allow his coach to play in Cairo. Yes, I said it, Bob Munro wanted a bribe and nobody was ready to give him. It was at the time when Harambee Stars comprised of Mathare players only. Even when he was pursuing the formation of FKL with Jerome Champagne, he was simply doing so because he wanted to broker WorldCup qualification rights to SuperSport. You may all remember that in Kenya's last match in the 1st round of the qualifiers in against Namibia, only KTN paid TV-rights fees for that match, and it was rumored that Bob Munro pocketed some money because it was also shown on Supersport. In November, it is on record that he tabled an offer from Supersport to FKL, but SportFive beat him to the buzzer. So what does it make of someone if he is a club-chairman, KPL official and TV-broker? So once again we ask, can we have Bob Munro pursue interests which are personal and counter-productive against a whole industry while everybody sits back and he continues to shaft our future? I know I won't! Comments (0) Views (293) Date Published (Wed 3rd, Mar 2010) Back || Add Comments ADVERTISEMENT
