Supersport loses Nigeria as HiTV extends contract
Nigeria’s HiTV has extended its contract to broadcast England’s Barclays Premier League for a further three seasons.

The previous deal, signed three years ago, was worth $28 million and gave the Nigerian pay TV network 80 per cent of the broadcasting rights in the country.

HiTV has now acquired the exclusive rights for TV, internet and mobile through 2013.

“The Premier League did not break up the rights into two separate packages like the previous seasons, but bundled all the matches into one package, which we won… HiTV now owns one hundred per cent (of the) rights," explained Toyin Subair, HiMedia Group chief executive officer.
