KPL top scorer heading to Sofapaka
KENYA Premier League(KPL) top leading scorer Joseph Emeka might be heading to Sofapaka, come next season.
The Nigerian player told "KenyaFootball.com” that he has been approached by Sofapaka officials adding that if given better package, he will not hesitate leaving Tusker after the end of the 2009 League season. Speaking after attending Tusker FC training session at the Nairobi City Stadium on thursday morning, Emeka lamented that poor remuneration of players is hindering the lucrative League. "It's quite sad to find most clubs paying players from the range of Shs.15,000 to 20,000 which is peanuts considering the high standard of living. "I may be comfortable in Tusker but I can say other teams are frustrating players with poor salaries and incentives,” Observed the Nigerian player. Emeka with 14 goals to his credit took over as the leading scorer from Sofapaka's John Barasa after scoring two goals over the weekend in Awendo. Tusker lost 4-3 in a high scoring KPL match.Sofapaka striker John Barasa who was leading with 13 goals has dropped to second after failing to score over the weekend when his club was held to a barren draw by Western Stima away in Kakamega. Before travelling to Awendo, Emeka had promised to overturn the table and take over from Barasa, a claim which he has fulfilled. Meanwhile, while Emeka and Barasa are topping the scoring chart ,KPL has released other leading scorers. Gor Mahia's George Odhiambo, Haji Mwachoki of Thika United and Arthur Museve of Nairobi City Stars are sharing third spot with nine goals each to their credit. Towering Humphrey Miano of KCB has scored eight goals. Jacob Mugaya of Western Stima,Ali Abondo, and his team mate Musa Abdulwahab of Bandari are tying with seven goals. Players who have scored six goals are Anthony Onguru(KCB), Jacob Omondi (Sher), Patrick Kagogo (Sofapaka), Jimmy Bagaye (Nbi City Stars), and Jacob Kelli (Sofapaka) respectively. Ends.
