Hey must Go!!
By Alvin Fundi
I'm going to repeat what I have stated before: Kenya is the best team in Group B. Both Tunisia and Nigeria are a bunch of stars, not teams. They are beatable. Mozambique is a solid team and we better not take them for granted! Antoine Hey, is not a free gift from Germany. He is pricey. The Ministry of Sports has forked out Ksh.5.3Million, as his 3 months salary, which translates to 1.76M/= a month. By comparison, the other experiment, Bernard Lama, would have earned Ksh.560,000 a month if he had signed Sambu's contract. Ironically, the entire, Harambee Stars team, only received Ksh. 810,000 from the government for their successive campaign in the last round of the qualifiers. From the above amount, interim coach Fra-ncis Kimanzi, was given 70,000/=. The paradox speaks for itself. Hey is not a football coach but a tourist making another stop. The man can't coach full-stop. His many excuses are outrageous; his faulting players paranoid. Coaching philosophy- nil, zero, naught. Kenya had plenty of time to level or win the match! The matter of players leaving camp was not worth an expulsion. There is little doubt that it factored in the results. But the biggest blunder was the 5-3-2, an archaic formation rarely used this century. The 3 central defenders were conspicuously absent when it mattered most. Not a fault of their own making though, but poor fielding and positioning, which is a technical fault or bad coaching. Case in point, the second goal. A diagonal back-pass is a crime in modern football, not communicating to your teammate a massacre, and leaving your goalkeeper exposed to a rocket scientist, a genocide. Read my lips: Dennis Oliech does not need a striking partner unless we are chasing the game. True, there are no secrets that our opponents have devised an array of defenses already just for him, but the beauty of the man's game, is his ability to camouflage and then pounce appropriately. We have plenty of talent in the midfield and it must be used properly to shield our defense and create opportunities to score. Ladies and Gents, what we witnessed was a clear case of incompetence from the bench. We cannot fairly rate the players based on a faulty formation. A formation of surrender, wasteful manpower, misguided instructions, utter fraud, and insulting our football intelligence. Hey must Go!! Rai-la must keep off Harambee Stars !!! Failure to do so, Nigeria 5 - Kenya 0. World Cup bye, Angola 2010 bye, bye!!! Comments (11) Views (1099) Date Published (Tue 31st, Mar 2009) ADVERTISEMENT
