Professor Moni Wekesa (pictured), who was a onetime Secretary General of the Kenya Football Federation, will be the new Kenyan Premier League Managing Director starting this year. He has been serving as Chair of the Independent Disciplinary Appeals Committee (IDAC).

This is after long-serving and versatile football administrator Jack Oguda expressed his desire to leave the company, and pursue other businesses.

Wekesa’s name was submitted today to the KPL Board, by Chairman Bob Munro in a move widely condemned by Senior Management Committee members and chairmen alike, who saw it as a scheme by the Chairman to continue controlling the KPL agenda, while maintaining his grip on power. Speculation was rife that he was going to be deposed slightly before the beginning of March.

Oguda fell out with Bob Munro after he joined with a group of club officials, who had threatened to depose the Chairman late last year.

Wekesa however brings a wealth of experience in football administration to the KPL.
