FIFA Approves Kenya Referees
FIFA world soccer governing body has approved 14 Kenyan referees for international assignment after the Football Kenya referees committee recommended their names to the world governing body. Those referees who can now officiate international matches outside kenya are five male referees and one female referee while five male assistant referees and three female assistant referees will be assisting the referees.
The male referees includes SAMUEL A LANGAT from South Rift branch SYLVESTER KIRWA from North Rift branch ALFRED NDINYA and THOMAS ONYANGO from Nairobi Branch and CALEB AMWAYI from Western Branch while the only lady referee DAMARIS KIMANI come from Nairobi Branch while the male assistant referees are PETER KIEREIN and JOHN NGURURI from Aberdare branch ADEN MARWA from Nyanza West branch DAVID SAGERO from Nyanza South branch ELIAS KULOBA from North Western branch while the three assistant female referees are DORCAS MANUNGUTI MORAA the youngest female assistant comes from Central Rift branch MARY NJOROGE from Abadare branch and MARGARET OMONDI from Western branch respectively.
Kenya had lost seven former international referees due to frustrations and misuse of authority and denial opportunities to officiate the premier league by certain individuals to an extend of suspending these international referees from officiating premier league matches, an authority solely reserved for National Association.
Those who lost their status of international recognition are Referees NICODEMUS MARANI 2EVANS OMOSSA Assistant Referees EVANS MWACHIA SAMUEL MUINDI SYLVESTER MSONYE SELINA CHEPKEMBOI and GLADYS WAWERU
FKL Referees coordinator Mohammed Aziz has assured tother officials that FIFA is looking deeply in the issue of referees in Kenya
and a lasting solution will be received soon.
"I want to request the referees not to dump this profession due to these frustration," he said.
