CECAFA U-17 called off

Kenyafootball.com has just learnt that the rescheduled CECAFA U-17 set to kick off in Nairobi from the 8th December has been called off.  According to reliable sources, US$ 25,000 had been raised to host the event but the sum was deemed as inefficient.
With the cancellation, Kenya’s chance to host a soccer event has once again gone up in smoke. The youth Challenge Cup was first held last year in August in Burundi and won by the hosts who beat Uganda to second place. An ill prepared Kenya surprisingly sneaked into the semis and ended up the Bronze winners after seeing off Rwanda in post match penalties.
