Harambee Stars: Time for a New Coach? With Kenya bundled out of the 2007 CECAFA Cup, its time Kenya gets a new coach with boatloads of international experience. We need a coach who has had both African and preferably European exposure. For a coach to be successful in Africa, they must understand “African Football”. There is just no way will Kenya ever succeed if the required structures are not put in place. This is part of what we need: 1. Hire three well trained managers, scouts, tacticians, medical staff, Dieticians. 2. The team must be disbanded and rebuilt from the ground 3. Total Government support – with Governmental budgetary allocations 4. Advanced match planning both regionally and oversees 5. Overseas contacts/scouts who will be charged with monitoring overseas based players 6.At least a semi-professional league supported by the government 7. Disbanding KFF and ascertaining that it is ONLY STAFFED BY PROFFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATORS 8.Rebuilding all the playing facilities in the country 9. Establishing age based regional teams that compete seasonally 10. Establish two to three junior national teams – hence giving local coaches opportunities to grow 11. Establish football camps around the country to groom young players 12. Market the region and the national team to local and internationally companies to raise self sustaining funds. Basically, if we don't run the national team as you would run a company to make profit, Kenya will never get far. Comments (7) Views (1947) Date Published (Wed 19th, Dec 2007) ADVERTISEMENT
